Should I Apply? Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 19, 2026
Should I Apply? is a Chrome extension. It shows how well your resume matches the job posting on the current page.
Data on your computer
The extension saves these items only in Chrome on your computer:
- Your resume text.
- Your name, which the extension finds at the top of your resume, so that it can remove it again.
- A random install ID.
The extension keeps the last result for each tab in memory only. Chrome deletes it when you close the tab or the browser.
Data that leaves your computer
The extension sends data only when you click “Assess.” It sends:
- Your resume text. Before it sends the text, the extension removes email addresses, phone numbers, links, and your name, which it finds at the top of your resume.
- The text of the job posting on the current page, or the text that you selected.
- The random install ID.
The extension sends this data to our server. Our server sends the resume text and the job text to TypeSafe, which calculates the match levels.
The extension does not read a page until you click its icon. It does not read other tabs. It does not collect your browsing history.
What our server keeps
- Our server does not keep your resume text or the job text. It does not write them to logs.
- For rate limits, our server keeps your install ID and a hash of your IP address for a maximum of 24 hours.
- Our server keeps daily totals: the number of assessments, errors, and blocked requests, and the cost. These totals do not include IDs, IP addresses, or text.
Service providers
- Vercel hosts our server in the United States. Vercel keeps standard request logs, for example IP addresses and times, as its privacy policy describes.
- Upstash stores the rate-limit data for a maximum of 24 hours.
- TypeSafe calculates the match levels in the United States. TypeSafe does not train AI models on your data. TypeSafe keeps data “as long as reasonably necessary” to provide its service, as its privacy policy describes.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not use analytics in the extension.
- We do not use your data for any purpose other than the match assessment.
Delete your data
Open the extension settings and click “Delete all my data,” or remove the extension from Chrome. Our server deletes its rate-limit data after 24 hours.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date.
